Where would the world be without a few rules and policies? Here at Book Hoarder I only have a few simple things to state before reviewing any book. If you accept these and still wish me to review your book please contact me by email at ** At this point in time I am unable to accept any new request I am sorry. ** Now let’s get to the nitty gritty shall we?
Who will I accept books from? This is very simple. I will review a book by anyone. Whether you are traditionally published or self-published I welcome all books. I know a lot of review blogs refuse to read indie books and with good reason. There is a lot of junk out there. The only thing I ask from an indie author is that you send me a book that has been at least “edited” by someone other than yourself. Sometimes we need to have a fresh pair of eyes that’s not as invested in the story as we are to point out our flaws.
What genres will I accept? I hate to turn down any book, but here’s the deal. There are certain genres (mystery, thriller, crime) that I don’t generally read. Those books will probably take longer for me to get through and I won’t have the best opinion of, only because I don’t have much to compare them to. On my own I read mostly Young Adult, Historical, and Christian books.
What formats will I accept? I prefer print versions of books, but I can accept Kindle or Nook books as well. The time it takes me to review a book can depend on what format I receive. Since I can only read ebooks on my desktop at the moment, it may take longer than with a print version. The couch is a lot more comfortable than my computer chair.
How long will it take for a review to be posted? Unless we have worked out a certain time for a review to publish, I will try to get it up within three weeks of receiving the book. As stated before, I’m an author and work on my own books from day to day, but I read books quickly and am able to get reviews out regularly.
Anything else? My reviews are my own personal opinions of the books I read. They are no way shaped or influenced by the outside world. I feel the author and readers alike deserve a real honest review of a book. Something that will give them an idea if they want to purchase it for themselves or not.
