4starCan Anna find love in the City of Light?

Anna is happy in Atlanta. She has a loyal best friend and a crush on her coworker at the movie theater, who is just starting to return her affection. So she’s less than thrilled when her father decides to send her to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year.

But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna meets some cool new people, including the handsome Étienne St. Clair, who quickly becomes her best friend. Unfortunately, he’s taken —and Anna might be, too. Will a year of romantic near misses end with the French kiss she’s waiting for?

I really enjoyed this book and it fit right in the place I needed it to be. This book more than most that I read and definitely written for a teenager. They was the world is always so dramatic and things can change on the flip of a coin is something I remember from high school. Even the smallest smile from your crush can send you into daydreams about getting married.

I enjoyed the setting of being a girl out of place and learning how to survive in another country. I expect that it’s a very true account of what students who study abroad go through. And all of the characters were enjoyable.

The only thing I have against the book is that there wasn’t more of it. I felt as though there could have been a lot more detail about her interactions with the French people and maybe some more funny accidents where she doesn’t order the right thing. The book focus’ mostly on her relationship with the boy, but I feel like there should have been more with the other characters. If you’re going to say someone is your best friend, you should probably spend time with them right?

All in all it was a very enjoyable and fast read. And just the light-hearted thing I needed.
